This reading attempts to develop a new method of literary criticism. It passes through tow stages; namely, (1) it tries to develop from within itself, independent of previous literary studies and their influence, (2) it goes back to previous studies and attempts to hold comparison and contrasts among them.
The conclusions of this reading and research are represented in the following:
That the epistle of "Hayy
ibn Yagzan", written by Ibn Tufayl (-1185), symbolizes, by way of its philosophical narrative, the human journey through history down to the time of the author.
That this research has discovered a new literary genre that has not been an attempt to delineate the features of this literary genre being a model of contemplative texts. The contemplative text usually aims at reviving the sermonic sensation in the reader.
